Third-party firms are responsible for meter readings in Ireland. ESB Networks is in charge of reading your electricity meter, and Gas Networks Ireland is responsible for reading your gas meter. Both of these companies aim to read the meters quarterly, and since your statements are issued bi-monthly, at least two of your bills will be estimated readings.

Due to the current situation, both service providers aim to continue taking the readings of meters located outside the premises. However, customers will need to submit their meter readings online for those meters located inside the home. You can do this through your energy provider's online portal or App.

If you do not have an online account set up with your provider, we would advise doing so right away. Once your account is ready, you can input your meter readings, which will help you obtain an accurate statement. Kindly note that meter readings need to be submitted at least five days before your next bill. If late, the Networks team will use it to increase the accuracy of future statements.
