Why do Videos Freeze or Buffer?
Modified on: Thu, 11 Feb, 2021 at 10:15 AM
There is nothing worse than buffering mid-way through a blockbuster film. The most common causes of buffering are:
- Connection speed: Your connection speed may not be strong enough to stream the content or freezing up due to insufficient bandwidth.
- Multiple devices: Too many devices streaming or gaming simultaneously.
- Wi-Fi connection: Whenever possible, connect directly to the router with an ethernet cable. If this isn't possible, try moving closer to your router to improve the streaming quality.
- Streaming in high resolution: Most websites allow you to turn down the playback resolution to stop buffering. To stream in low res, click on the video settings, find quality, then reduce the resolution.
